codeSpark Academy is inspired by visual programming languages such as Scratch from MIT, Alice from Carnegie Mellon University and other âbeginnerâ programming languages like Logo, SmallTalk, and Squeak.
Our word-free interface allows anyone, anywhere to play. Theyâll master core computer science concepts such as pattern recognition, problem solving, sequencing, algorithmic thinking, debugging, loops and conditionals.
Our creative space Foo Studio allows kids to put programming concepts to work by making video games and programming interactive stories. Creations can then be played and remixed by other coders around the globe.
To be successful, kids must:
* Determine the actions needed to solve each Fooâs problem
* Order actions in a logical sequence
* Recognize patterns
* Use those patterns to make their code more efficient
* Test solutions
* Learn from tests and try revised solutions

I'm in my late 30s and I find this game amusing. It's like Kumon for your brain - you learn by taking baby steps. I don't know if it will teach you about Linked List, Trees, or Blockchains but that's not the point for a 10 yr old. The point is these games will wire your child's brain so as to prepare them for the actual programming. These games transcends basic programming and foundational concepts for the later years. Good Job! Take your vitamin gummies. Full Review

Unless you're willing to fork over money for a subscription, this "game" is dead in the water before it even gets started. In-app purchases is completely misleading. Why don't you just sell the damn thing and make it easier on everyone who gets suckered into your advertisements about a new coding game... Full Review

Should have account for up-to 4 kids like most web services, also even you subscribe it, there is no way to see where your kid is up to, most of the time I see them, they are playing just normal game, not the programming game actives. Full Review

I'm an Android developer and I usually hate these "kid-coder" games because they teach nothing of actual code or logic, but this is my exception to that. From what I've seen this app does an exceptional job of teaching the logic of a computer without getting too technical. All that being said, if you are looking to teach someone over the age of 10 programming, I'd look into something like scratch, and for an advanced child, a language like python or HTML. I appreciate the developer's initiative in teaching kids logical thinking and hope this app continues to do well! Full Review
